100% Indonesian25Aug09

We, Indonesian, would like to remind the world, that things below are our national treasure. So, don’t believe too quick if another nation such as the (fu**ing) Malaysia give a slight show about so-called their “culture”. You should be critical, whether it is originated in their land, or they just taken it from other nations. Therefore, we’ll try to keep our culture and its products so the future generations of the world can still see the amazing cultures live in Indonesia.

You can be sure that things below are 100% BELONG TO INDONESIAN:

Batik adalah milik Indonesia / Batik is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Gamelan adalah milik Indonesia / Gamelan is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Reog adalah milik Indonesia / Reog is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Bali adalah milik Indonesia / Bali belongs to Indonesia exclusively, from the past until the end of the world

Keris adalah milik Indonesia / Keris is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Tempe adalah milik Indonesia / Tempe is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Nasi Goreng Magelangan adalah milik Indonesia / Magelangan Fried Rice is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Rencong adalah milik Indonesia / Rencong is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Angklung adalah milik Indonesia / Angklung (bamboo musical instrument) is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Silat adalah milik Indonesia / Silat is originated and belongs to Indonesia

Apalagi ya produk budaya milik kita? Yang sudah diklaim orang ataupun yang masih belum tersentuh. Sampai sini males ngetik. Habis, banyak banget nih. Tolong bantu tambahin ya.

UNESCO HAS FORTIFIED INDONESIAN KERIS AS WORLD HERITAGE
Thursday, 14 May 2009

DENPASAR-MI: UNESCO has fortified Indonesian keris (a wavy-bladed ceremonial dagger), including Balinese keris, as a masterpiece of cultural heritage that belongs to the world.

“The world has admitted the existence of Indonesian keris and gives international appreciation. That encourages us to collect hundreds of inherited keris,” said Pande Wayan Suteja, the founder and manager of Neka Museum at Artist Village Ubud, Gianyar.

The Museum, established 27 years ago, has added 272 collection, after the strict selection done by experts and Indonesian keris preserver – Ir. Haryono Haryoguritno and Sukoyo Hadi Nagoro (armorer and keris expert), besides 312 paintings and sculptures.

Some countries such as Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, and the Philippines has struggled to achieve world acknowledgement but until now they are not successful yet.

The tradition to use keris as a weapon, hereditary equipment and ritual equipment has become a culture in Indonesian life, especially the Hindus in Bali. The keris at the museum are collected because of their beauty and art not hereditary.

Suteja Neka is the heir of a weapon maker, especially supernatural keris. His ancestor, Pande Pan Nedeng, was a keris armorer from Peliatan-Ubud Kingdom when King Peliatan III, Ida Dewa Agung Djelantik led the kingdom in 19th century (1823-1845). His Father, Pande Wayan Neka (1917-1980) was famous as a sculptor with his unique and qualified masterpiece, such as a 3 meter garuda sculpture for New York World Fair, USA (1964).

Suteja Neka hoped that Neka Museum could preserve and develop keris as a masterpiece as it was acknowledged in the world. (Ant/OL-01)

Unesco Lists Batik As Indonesian Cultural Heritage

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has officially recognized batik as an Indonesian cultural treasure, Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Aburizal Bakrie said on Monday.

“We have received notification from Unesco that batik has now been listed as part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage,” Aburizal said after attending a cabinet meeting chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Bogor Palace in West Java.

Unesco, according to Aburizal, would make public its decision to recognize batik as a unique hallmark of the country’s heritage during a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of Intangible Heritage, held from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates .

To celebrate batik’s recognition, he said, Yudhoyono had appealed to the public at large to wear batik as a sign of respect for the culture. “The president has asked us to preserve our culture.”

The government has conducted field research since 2008 involving batik-producing communities and experts in 19 provinces across the country in preparation for the nomination of batik as a cultural artifact.

“Batik is not only considered part of Indonesia’s cultural heritage, but is also now recognized as a representation of humanity’s culture,” Aburizal said, adding that as a traditional cloth, batik was rich in value as well as cultural inheritance.

Meanwhile, Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said that in 2003, Unesco recognized wayang kulit , or shadow puppets, and a traditional dagger as aspects of the country’s cultural heritage, adding that it would continue to seek Unesco recognition of its cultural artifacts.
