UTUSAN MALINGSIA---THE RUBBISH AND GABAGE PAPER WITH FULL OF POISONS AND SHITS!

Nazri Aziz PISSES ON Utusan Malaysia Editors aka Awang Selamat in Open-Letter
Monday, September 27, 2010

Quote

"... Untuk menjadi seorang RAKYAT MALAYSIA, TIDAK semestinya ANTI-Melayu. (To be a MALAYSIAN does not necessarily mean to be ANTI-Malay.)

(How can I not dub you a racist when you seem to be upset with the praises and positive responses I got from the non-Malays and attempt to put it as something negative on me).

(Are the comments and praises of the Malays [the] only [ones that] count, and the rest can go to you-know-where?)

(You have a long way to go in accepting that Malaysia is a country belonging to Malaysians of all races who swear their loyalty to the land of their birth.)

(What you have to bear in mind is not what you think you are but what the public perceive of you .)

(Sad to say, the NON-Malays perceive Utusan as racist, period.)

(And that is why I brought up the issue of Malaysian first and Malay next, in case you don’t understand why.)

Apa pun Awang, saya tidak tahu siapa anda sebenarnya. (By the way, I still do not know who YOU are, Awang?)..."
-Dato Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz

The following is an open-letter by Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz in response to a Mingguan Malaysia editorial today entitled, “Lagi Jawapan buat Nazri Aziz”,by Awang Selamat.

FROM: Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz
PADANG RENGAS,
September 26, 2010

To: Mr Whoever You Are in Utusan Malaysia

Of course I will respond to your article.

If we believe in the freedom of speech, let it be known that it is not only given to the Press but also to the individual.

In exercising my right of reply and to defend myself, please do not interpret it to mean I am stifling criticism against me. Far from it; I have been criticised all my years in politics and I am still here where I am.

Mr Utusan said that he got a lot of SMS to justify that he received support for his article on me. I do not want to talk about the SMS and emails that I received because he will not be able to verify them, but I am sure he has also been informed that comments made by ordinary people reading the portal have shown that I, too, have support from public just as he claimed he has — if not more.

How can I not dub you a racist when you seem to be upset with the praises and positive responses I got from the non-Malays and attempt to put it as something negative on me, especially those coming from (Lim) Kit Siang and (Lim) Guan Eng?

By doing this you have clearly defined your position as “we Malays against you non-Malays”.

Are the comments and praises of the Malays [the] only [ones that] count, and the rest can go to you-know-where? You have a long way to go in accepting that Malaysia is a country belonging to Malaysians of all races who swear their loyalty to the land of their birth.

I am right about your zero experience in politics because you wrote “When the Malays don’t vote”.

Well, let me tell you our analysis has shown that “When the NON-Malays don’t vote”, the effect is the same.

You have never understood what I have been trying to say, that the most important point is that “When the majority of Malaysians don’t vote” then we all are in trouble.

One of the worst things to do is to offer excuses for your failure by saying others failed too. This is a defeatist attitude and a sure recipe for doom. Why don’t you look around? I am sure you can find other papers which succeed and use them as incentive to work in increasing your readership. I like the Utusan of old and I want you to work hard towards making this paper great again.

I read with extreme happiness your support for Umno and Barisan Nasional and to ensure that we will succeed. I want you to walk your talk and support the 1 Malaysia policy which is the brainchild of the President of Umno and Chairman of Barisan Nasional. He is working very, very hard to win the next General Election, so please don’t make it difficult for him.

Awang does not need to tell me about how Utusan is a Malay institution and that its struggle is the same with Umno. Long before you joined Utusan, I have been in Umno Youth — right from being appointed exco member to the post of deputy leader — and for one-and-a-half years acting leader of Umno Youth Malaysia. That is my credential.

If I am a Malaysian leader today, a lot of credit must be given to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. I hold him responsible for what I am today and I owe him a lot. I just want my “sifu” to continue to help me and the others to be good leaders of this blessed country of ours and not to divide us by race, creed, cult and gender.

To be a Malaysian does not necessarily mean to be anti-Malay. I hope this will be understood by all.

Finally, being involved in the dissemination of messages to public as claimed by Awang, it is very important that your messages come out loud and clear to them. At the end of the day you cannot be called upon to explain all the time. What you have to bear in mind is not what you think you are but what the public perceive of you.

Sad to say, the non-Malays perceive Utusan as racist, period. And that is why I brought up the issue of Malaysian first and Malay next, in case you don’t understand why.

By the way, I still do not know who YOU are, Awang?

Journalists’ Union demands Utusan Malaysia Abolish UNETHICAL Policies

Read here for more

National Union of Journalists (NUJ) president Hata Wahari demanded today that Utusan Malaysia abolish editorial policies which go against “journalistic ethics” in order to tackle a severe drop in its readership circulation.

The newly-minted union president claimed that the Umno-owned daily’s existing policies had resulted in a sharp decline in the paper’s circulation in recent years.

Hata said in a statement today:

“NUJ Malaysia is worried with the decline in mainstream newspapers’ circulation especially Utusan Malaysia’s. Utusan’s total circulation has dropped from 213,000 to 169,000 ( minus 21 per cent) between the years 2005-2009 as released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) on September 10 last year.

We feel that the drop in Utusan’s overall circulation is due to several factors, most of them being the policies that are currently adopted by the chief editor and senior editors in Utusan. These policies are against the ethics of journalism.

Utusan practises biased reporting whereby it only reports positively if it involves BN while all negative reports will be directed towards PR and the states which the opposition coalition governs.

The newspaper also does not give an opportunity for an accused to answer certain allegations by choosing not to publish it. In this matter, Utusan adopts an approach where it does not publish statements made by political parties or individuals who criticise the newspaper.

Utusan Malaysia only publishes news for the benefit of one race, causing Chinese, Indians as well as other Bumiputeras to no longer be interested in reading the newspaper even though they can read and write in Bahasa Malaysia. Utusan as a newspaper has to take into consideration the needs of other races.

If these policies continue to be implemented, Utusan’s circulation will continue to drop in the future. Perhaps one day Utusan Malaysia will be reduced to be inserted within the pages of Kosmo, since comparatively the Malay tabloid has been experiencing a steady increase year after year.”
Hata, who is also an Utusan journalist, claimed that the Malay daily’s reporting was “biased” in nature, saying that positive coverage revolved around Barisan Nasional (BN) while negative reports were specifically reserved for Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

The NUJ president cited the example of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz’s responses to Utusan columnist Awang Selamat which had not been carried by Utusan.

Utusan, in continuing its attacks against Nazri, claimed yesterday that the minister’s criticisms against the Umno-owned daily had been “unfounded” and unbecoming of an Umno minister.

In its weekend edition Mingguan Malaysia, Awang Selamat slammed Nazri for questioning the daily’s agenda and for pointing out that Utusan’s readership circulation had dwindled over recent years while online news portals were attracting more readership.

The columnist, whose pseudonym is used by Utusan editors, maintained that Utusan was a “Malay institution,” and that the paper’s agenda was in the national interest, dismissing Nazri’s recent allegations that the daily had become “racist” in its reporting.

Awang also defended Utusan’s drop in circulation yesterday, claiming that it was a trend that was currently being experienced by many other newspapers in Asia.

The columnist also claimed that online news portals were “feeding off” news reports and articles from Utusan without the paper’s permission, and that without the issues being reported by Utusan, these online news portals would lose their readership value.

But Hata maintained today that Utusan was only publishing news for the needs of one race, saying that this had inadvertently caused non-Malay readers to stop reading the Malay daily.

Hata dismissed Utusan’s claims that its online readership had increased, claiming that an increase in Utusan Online did not mean an increase in revenue because the bulk of Utusan Online’s profits was obtained through Internet advertisements.

The NUJ president painted a bleak picture of Utusan’s future.

PERKASA Street Thugs --THE WAYANG BERUK

Hero by PERKASA Street Thugs
Thursday, September 30, 2010

Malay rights pressure group PERKASA has declared 'WAR' against controversial rapper and film-maker NAMEWEE, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, following the launch of his debut album last night.

About 70 people turned up at the Chinese Assembly Hall in Jalan Maharajalela here tonight to stage a protest against Namewee.

The group was seen carrying Perkasa banners and Namewee’s pictures that were later set on fire, while some hurled abuse at the rapper who was launching an album in the hall.

Namwee said he is not afraid of Perkasa and believes that the police will protect him.

The young performer will kick off the tour tomorrow at the private New Era College in Kajang. It is owned by Chinese education NGO Dong Zong.

Its youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah said members are ready to act as "panglima perang dan hulubalang Melayu (Malay warriors)," and are willing to tail the rapper throughout his upcoming promotional tour.

“If he was so brave why didn't he step out yesterday?...If he is trying to act like a Tionghua (Chinese) hero, then why did he not have the guts to face Malay warriors last night? We only wanted to talk. We accept news (of his tour) with open arms. If he performs inside (a hall), we will 'perform' outside too,” he said when contacted today.

He added that Wee could only hide behind his Youtube account previously, and that he hopes to hide now behind the police and the electronic media.

About 100 policemen, including the Federal Reserve Unit from Dang Wangi, were present to ensure peace and safety.

Wira Perkasa Malaysia head Arman Azha Abu Hanifah, who headed the gathering, tried to enter the hall but was prevented by police.

The group later wanted the police to call Namewee out of the hall but police did not heed their request.

Arman Azhar later told reporters that the gathering was to protest against Namewee who had disgraced the nation through his controversial video clips and albums which were racists in nature.

Arman Azhar said, “We want him (Namewee) to openly apologise to not only the Malays but the people of Malaysia. What he has done has certainly damaged racial harmony and unity.”

Namewee said this is NOT the issue, as his intention is to “address racism”.

Meanwhile, Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman said nobody was arrested during the protest since they followed police instructions and dispersed when instructed by police.“We asked them to disperse within 40 minutes and they followed the instructions,” he said.

The story that got Malaysia Today blocked: MAS-Tajudin- Umno

Three prime ministers - the shit hits the fan

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Tajudin and UMNO are trying to broker a deal on a global basis to settle all his cases. Why are they doing that? Well, because UMNO and Tajudin are afraid that Malaysia Today will expose more of their shenanigans. They are afraid that we will not rest until all these plunderers of the nation’s wealth are brought to justice.

Tajudin Ramli will not be enjoying his Hari Raya this year

In the previous parts in this series of articles, Malaysia Today told you about how the former Chairman of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), Tajudin Ramli, plundered the national airline close to RM9 billion. When Tajudin took over MAS in 1994, MAS had more than RM600 million in cash reserves. When he left in 2001, MAS was running at a deficit in excess of RM8 billion.

Malaysia Today also revealed that Tajudin was given immunity by UMNO. This is not what Malaysia Today alleges. This was Tajudin himself declared in his Affidavit. We are just repeating what Tajudin swore in his testimony. And the punishment for the crime of signing a false Affidavit is very serious indeed. So Tajudin would surely not dare lie in a document such as an Affidavit.

Undeniably, Tajudin is still a wealthy man while those who pursued him -- ex-CCID Director Ramli Yusuff and lawyer Rosli Dahlan -- ended up in court facing trumped up charges.

Tajudin could get away with murder because Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was also plundering MAS. So the PM could certainly not endorse the prosecution of Tajudin without the risk of the shit hitting the fan. And that was why MAS’s various reports to the Police and the MACC went unheeded. And that is also why Abu Kassim’s pledge to resign if the MACC does not investigate the big cases is just a public relations spin at best, mere lip service.

But that is not all to the story. In the past weeks, Tajudin’s lawyers and agents requested to meet me in London so that they could explain the ‘true’ story behind this entire episode. Tajudin wants Malaysia Today to know his side of the story -- about how the government ‘cheated’ him.

Basically, the story that Tajudin’s people related in London recently was that he was merely the ‘government agent’ in the MAS scam. The MAS shares did not belong to him. They belonged to Umno. He was merely Umno’s ‘front man’. And that was why Umno not only has to protect him from prosecution but they also had to ensure that the government bought back the shares at the same price that they were sold to him although the shares were worth only a portion of its real value.

This appears to be the trend. This was going on not only for MAS but for the other deals as well. Read what the ex-Malay Chamber Chairman of Penang, Rahman Maidin, said about Realmild/MRCB. Read also what Halim Saad said about UEM/Renong. These are all Tajudin’s allies working in concert to now spill the beans. They were all Umno front men and nominees. And they all now have an axe to grind with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

And, more importantly, it appears like the current Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, is giving his tacit approval for Tajudin Ramli, Rahman Maidin and Halim Saad to sing like a canary and finger Umno, Dr Mahathir and Tun Daim Zainuddin as the real rogues behind the plundering of billions of Ringgit of taxpayers’ money.

Coming back to MAS, after the Government bought back the MAS shares from Tajudin at RM8 per share -- whereas the market price then was just RM3.80 per share -- Danaharta foreclosed on Tajudin’s shares in Naluri Bhd. Danaharta then sold Naluri to Atlan Bhd.

Now, the person who brokered the deal was Dato’ Khalid Jewa a.k.a ‘Dato’ K’. That’s how Dato’ K became so filthy rich he managed to court the singing Diva, Siti Nurhaliza, a man much older than her.

Tajudin became angry and sued Danaharta and several others for RM13.6 billion. His motive was to fire a warning shot and warn the government that he will spill the beans if they go for him. Unfortunately for Tajudin, his case was struck out.

Now see the announcement that MAS made to the Bursa Malaysia about Tajudin counter-suing MAS for RM500 million. Tajudin is repeating his threats to the government. Check out the announcement to the Bursa Malaysia here (http://www.malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/34369-malaysia-today-at-the-centre-of-the-mas-tajudin-scuffle-part-1).

Tajudin specifically mentioned the name Raja Petra Kamarudin in his counter-suit. The announcement also mentions that Tajudin failed to strike out MAS’s claims against him for RM174 million. But hey, why mention my name? What have I got to do with a money-losing GLC?

Tajudin is running amok like a bull in a china shop. He is showing both MAS and the government that he will split wide open the can of worms if the government pursues civil and criminal actions against him.

Unknown to Tajudin and his agents who met up with me in London recently, it is not just Bukit Aman, the MACC and the AG Chambers that report to me. Even the courts in Malaysia do as well. So I am being told more that what they think.

Yes, the courts in Malaysia do not report to Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, the Chief Justice. They report to me. How do you think I knew that they that were coming for me on 23 February 2009 and managed to go underground just 24 hours before they pounced? And how could I escape the police dragnet if not for the fact the some officers from Bukit Aman themselves were the ones who whisked me to safety?

So eat your heart out Musa Aman. Your own officers made sure I was safe and free so that I can continue to whack you till the day you fall. And that day has come.

The story I received from the courts is even more interesting. After selling off Naluri to Atlan (and making Dato’ K very rich), and after stripping Naluri off all its assets and business, they will now make Naluri redundant as a dormant RM2 company. This will erase all the records and stories on how Tajudin used Naluri to plunder MAS.

Tajudin and UMNO are trying to broker a deal on a 'Global Basis' to settle all his cases. Why are they doing that? Well, because UMNO and Tajudin are afraid that Malaysia Today will expose more of their shenanigans. They are afraid that we will not rest until all these plunderers of the nation’s wealth are brought to justice.

On Sunday, Musa Hassan said in his interview with Mingguan Malaysia that I am a traitor. Now let me ask him who is the traitor? If the IGP and the MACC Chief want to cover up for a corporate crook are they then not traitors? And isn’t ex-Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi also not a traitor for selling out Limbang and MAS?

Just so that Malaysia Today is not accused of making up stories, we will show you the grand scheme where Tajudin will do a ‘Global Basis’ settlement with the government and all the GLCs that have suffered losses as a result of his actions.

In the mother of all scandals in nation plundering, Tajudin is doing a deal involving the ‘Mother Suit’. Malaysia Today is not saying this, it is mentioned in a letter by Tajudin’s own lawyers.

Tajudin’s lawyers think they are smart. They are trying to camouflage this mother of all schemes by using the courts to validate their crooked actions. They reckon by implicating the courts they would be safe.

In truth, however, these lawyers are mere amateurs. They have just provided the missing link between Shahidan Shafie and Tajudin. Remember this name in the MACC report filed by Shahahri Sulaiman, Managing Director of MASKargo, which Malaysia Today exposed some weeks back?

Yes, this is the camouflage and front man that Tajudin now uses. Shahidan is the cousin of Rizana Daud, the wife of Bistamam Ramli and one time supremo Company Secretary of MAS when Tajudin plundered MAS.

Shahidan was a former police officer and once the OC Secret Societies in Johor Bahru. In 1990, he was charged for corruption when he released some gangsters for a fee. Through his ACA (MACC) contacts he escaped prison. Since then he has become a very successful wheeler-dealer.

Shahidan is very close to Zahid Hamidi and Nazri Aziz. He also cuts deals with AG Gani Patail and maintains a close friendship with Nordin Hassan, the former Director of Prosecution of the MACC.

Now look at the series of letters where a deal is being cut with the courts to postpone the cases against Tajudin so that he has time to make this mother of all deals work.

And remember, you read it from Malaysia Today first.

Even from Sarawak’s sewers – Taib can dig RM78 million!

Sarawak Report

It has emerged that Taib THE WHITE HAIRS and his family have conducted a massive raid on the public funding for Kuching’s new sewerage system.

Figures show that out of a total 530 million ringgit handed out from taxpayers’ money to pay for the project, a staggering 78 million ringgit has been siphoned off by the Taib family and a crony company called Nishimatsu Construction (Nishimatsu’s parent company is currently being prosecuted in Japan in connection with a massive bribery and corruption scandal).

The theft is just the latest example of the so-called ’skimming’ of publicly funded projects by using bogus sub-contracts, which has become a standard form of abuse in Sarawak under Taib.

Critics have condemned it as the crudest possible form of corruption.

”Even a child could understand what is going on”, complained one outraged opposition figure last week, “the only reason Taib gets away with it is because he would sack any newspaper editor who dared to print what is going on. If the people knew the extent of it, the billions he has stolen in this way, they would be marching in fury!”.
Skimming using bogus sub-contracting is now standard practice in Sarawak

The method of theft is indeed astonishingly simple and the Taib WHITE HAIRS, has made it common practice during his thirty years rule over the State of Sarawak.

First he abuses his position of power by placing a project in the hands of a company run by an unqualified member of his own family or a friend. Then the crony sub-contracts the project to another company that is capable of doing the job, but for far less than the original amount. This way the Taibs pocket the difference.

In the case of the Kuching Sewerage System, therefore, it came as little surprise to insiders when it was announced on 30th September 2008that the Chief Minister had awarded the 530 million ringgit contract to a consortium of three companies that included Kumpulan Construction, which is run by his sister.
She and Taib’s brother Onn own 87.5% of the shares in the company.

So what does Raziah Mahmud know about building a public sewerage system?

Kumpulan construction reportedly has no construction equipment and Raziah is not qualified to build a modern sewerage system. In fact, her meteoric ‘business career’ developed shortly after Taib became Chief Minister, when numerous public contracts started coming the way of companies suddenly started up by herself and other Taib family members.

Onlookers point out that Raziah has only developed one area of evident expertise, which is her ability to rapidly sub-contract projects which have been handed to her by her brother.

Thus, on 21st October 2008, less than a month after the original government contract was awarded to the consortium of Kumpulan Construction, Nishimatsu Construction and HSL
it was further announced by HSL that the project had now been sub-contracted to them alone, but at the much reduced sum of 452 Million Ringgit. This leaves 78 million ringgit unaccounted for in the hands of the other two companies, Kumpulan and Nishimatsu.

Unsavoury business partner?

Ichiro Ozawa - Japanese opposition leader forced to resign over Nishimatsu funding scandal. Who next?
THE BIGGEST CORRUPTOR IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sarawak Report would therefore like to know how the missing 78 million ringgit was divided between Raziah and the Japanese-owned Nishimatsu Construction Co?

Nishimatsu Construction hit the headlines last year when the Japanese authorities arrested its Chairman for operating a I billion Yen slush fund, which he admitted he had used to make bribes to gain foreign contracts and to make illegal political donations. The scandal forced the resignation of the Japanese opposition leader Ichiro Ozawa.

Therefore, it is only fair to demand a clear explanation of the relationship between Nishimatsu and the Taib family and to ask what work could have been carried out by Kumpulan/Nishamatsu during this three week period that could have merited a payment of what is around US $25 million?

If such enquiries have brought a top political resignation in Japan, what might a proper investigation produce in Sarawak?

Taibs’ long-standing ties with Nishimatsu

Nishimatsu admitted paying 400 million yen bribe to build this water tunnel in Thailand. What was the deal in Sarawak?

(HOW about the k l FLOOD PROJECT WHICH IS HUGH CORRUPTED??? IT IS A SHAMEFUL PROJECT AND USELESS PROJECT—A WHITE ELEPHANT PROJECT!!! THE BIGGEST CORRUPTION!)

Our researches have further shown that the Kuching Sewerage project is just one of several large-scale public construction projects that have been handed in much the same way to the same consortium of Kumpulan Construction, Nishimatsu Construction and HSL.

Since Raziah’s take-over of Kumpulan in June 1986 (up to which point it was a dormant company) the projects awarded to the same three companies have included the 40,000 seat outdoor stadium at Petra Jaya worth RM105 million and The Senari Deepsea Port valued at RM160 million.

Unfortunately for the public purse however, the level of profit that Kumpulan has been able to register from these major ventures has been minimal, according to figures obtained from the Register of Companies. For example, in 1991 a turnover of MR8.5 million produced only MR 249,474 in profits and in 1991 a turnover of MR 5,811,443 produced profits of just MR 23,451. In fact for five of the years between 1986 and 1998 the company actually registered a loss for tax purposes.

How much went to Taib himself?

Given that Sarawak Report has now established that Taib family members operate a system of secretly holding shares in their companies in trust for the C M.
in fact a large chunk of the money skimmed off from the sewerage project has gone straight into Taib’s own foreign bank accounts.

The vast ‘cut’ taken by the C M’s family for this project means that either the people of Sarawak have paid MR 78 million too much for the job in the first place, or that the contract is now short of money and will be inadequately carried out.

Worringly, the most likely answer is a combination of both, meaning the people of Kuching have paid too much money for a sub-standard sewerage system purely in order to further enrich the Taib family.

Reform of the system could immediately be carried out by returning to the conventional system of open tendering for public contracts, which is the globally-accepted method of preventing fraud of this nature and is supported by the main opposition parties in Sarawak.

Malaysian Website Blocked to Cover Up a Scandal

Unknown forces attempt to block Malaysia Today from printing documents involving a huge scandal

Malaysia Today, the hard-hitting news website edited by Raja Petra Kamarudin, has been blocked by mysterious technical problems twice in the last 24 hours after publishing damning articles of deep corruption at the top of the Malaysian government.

One implicated the United Malays National Organization, the country's leading political party, in looting MAS, the country's flag carrier. A second alleged that a friend of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was attempting to steer RM200 million into the pockets of Najib's family from China Railways Engineering Corporation (CREC), for double-tracking the national railway.

"We are under severe attack," Raja Petra said in an email from London, where he now lives. "We've been down for the last 12 hours and a day before that for 24 hours. Looks like someone is spending a lot of money to keep us off the air." The website's technology personnel restored access, only to have it disappear again.

"It was the MAS story," Raja Petra said. "The site was brought down just a few hours after that. We revealed documents to and from the court to compromise the MAS case against Tajudin Ramli."

The fugitive editor was forced to flee the country 18 months ago after being charged with criminal defamation of Najib and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and being threatened with prosecution under the country's stiff Internal Security Act, which allows for what amounts to indefinite detention without or trial.

It wasn't clear who was doing the blocking, but whoever it is must be learning that the Internet is a sieve. The offending stories almost immediately appeared in another anonymous blog called "Malaysians Must Know The Truth."

Despite the fact that Malaysian bloggers have developed a healthy opposition press delivering voluminous details of government wrongdoings that can't be read in the government-controlled press, so far the Internet has remained free of interference. Government leaders have repeatedly denied any intention to shut down the bloggers.

Over recent weeks, however, Raja Petra has been particularly hard-hitting with a series of articles based on verbatim documents concerning the misdoings in MAS. The Asia Sentinel, in an Aug. 24 article using the same documents, wrote that Tajudin Ramli, a crony of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, was accused of looting the airline of tens of millions of dollars and very nearly putting it into bankruptcy by investigators who themselves then faced a campaign to discredit them.

The airline, which had been privatized and turned over to Tajudin, had to be rescued by the government. After it had incurred RM8 billion in losses, Tajudin returned the airline to the government for almost the original price, the losses notwithstanding.

Raja Petra continued to write about the issue, culminating in an article on Sept. 8 in which he said Tajudin had been given immunity by UMNO with the backing of former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and that reports by investigators and whistle-blowers went unheeded by the police.

In the article, Raja Petra said he had been visited by Tajudin's lawyers in London, who told him that he had only been a front man for UMNO and that UMNO "not only has to protect him from prosecution but that they also had to ensure that the government bought back the shares at the same price that they were sold to him although the shares were only worth a portion of the real value."

According to the article, which is printed here, "This was going on not only for MAS but for other deals as well." The depositions listed a long series of documents detailing misdoings in UEM/Renong, an UMNO-linked construction company once headed by Halim Saad, another Mahathir crony, which has long been accused of looting the government treasury through vastly overpriced construction contracts.

"These are all Tajudin's allies working in concert to now spill the beans. They were all Umno front men and nominees. And they all now have an axe to grind with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad," Raja Petra wrote. "And, more importantly, it appears like the current Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, is giving his tacit approval for Tajudin Ramli, Rahman Maidin and Halim Saad to sing like a canary and finger UMNO, Dr Mahathir and Tun Daim Zainuddin as the real rogues behind the plundering of billions of ringgit of taxpayers' money."

That wasn't all. On Sept. 5, Malaysia Today posted an article alleging that Tan Kay Hock, the controlling shareholder of Johan Holdings Bhd, a publicly-listed investment holding company and golfing partner of the prime minister had asked Chinese officials who had contracted to double-track the national railway for RM500 million and told them that RM200 million is for Najib's family.

"And this is making the Chinese very unhappy because, in China, both the givers as well the sis charged to the family of the deceased," Raja Petra wrote. "The Chinese are wondering whether it is worth the risk to pay Kay Hock the RM500 million he is demanding."

The national railway, he wrote, "is being used as Najib's new cash cow." A deal to supply coaches worth RM1.4 billion went to a company involving Najib's wife Rosmah and two other women. The coaches were said to be worth only RM300 million and do not function.
