IT IS TIME FOR MALAYSIA TO STOP HORSE RACING, NOW!!! MALAYSIANS STAND UP AND SAY NO AND STOP OF HORSE RACING!!! WE WANT POLITICAL PARTIES TO STATE CLEARLY THAT IN THEIR MANIFESTO THAT HORSE RACING WILL BE END IN MALAYSIA!!!!

I urge you to support the Animal Welfare (Jumps Racing) Amendment Bill, scheduled for vote on September 28.

Jumps racing is cruel and presents unacceptable risks for the animals involved. Horses in jumps races are at up to 20 times greater risk of getting killed on track than in flat racing.

The fact that the Law Society's Animal Welfare Law Committee has advised jumps racing may already be in breach of the Animal Welfare Act is proof that this sport does not deserve a place in a civilised society.

Year after year we see horses fall and die in jumps races. South Australians are sick of the carnage, and want this cruel 'sport' stopped.

A 1991 Senate Select Committee advised that jumps racing presented too great a risk to horses and should be phased out. All other states except Victoria have now followed this advice. Please don't let South Australia lag behind other states any longer on this important issue.

Urgent: support SA Bill to ban jumps racing
A Bill submitted by Greens MLC Tammy Franks that is due for vote in the South Australian Parliament on Wednesday September 28 offers hope that jumps racing may have run its last dash in South Australia.

While in most sports the death of a participant would be considered a tragedy, jumps racing factors in an 'allowable death rate' for its animal athletes. Forcing horses to leap hurdles at high speeds, this violent 'sport' puts horses at a 10 - 20 times greater risk of fatality than flat racing. During the 2011 season alone, eleven horses have died in races across South Australia and Victoria (the only states where jumps races still occur).

Despite clear evidence of animal cruelty, the South Australian and Victorian Governments have refused to ban the sport. Recent legal advice has suggested not only that SA Minister for Racing Tom Kenyon may have misled Parliament by claiming that the government could not legislate to ban jumps racing, but that jumps racing may already be breaking SA animal welfare laws.

Please call on the members of the SA Legislative Council to support this Bill that could end the cruel spectacle of jumps racing in South Australia.
